Vintage Plastic Halloween Lamps

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I collect a lot of vintage Halloween decorations. Most of the stuff I own dates from the 20's through the 50's and I'm sure I'll be posting a lot of that stuff in the next few weeks. These lamps dating from 60's and 70's are some of my favorite pieces. Some are far more common then others and some are quite hard to come across and fetch high prices. Most were made by Empire Plastics who produced a lot of the mid century holiday blowmold lights. Others were made by General Foam, Bayshore, and Union Products. These are easy flea market finds and a great flashback to any childhood of the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

Salem Hopscotch Pink Teacup and Creamer

I wish I could find more of this set in Pink or Turquoise. The shapes were designed by Viktor Schreckengost for Salem China in the late 50s. They differ from North Star mostly in shape. They also have less of a glaze and if you look close enough there's a speckled appearance to the white. They tend to be really hard to come by and usually the cost is pretty high. The designs are amazing and I love the feet on the teacup!

Around The Country With David Klein

Throughout the 1950s and 60s David Klein created some of the most timeless and award winning advertising posters for Trans World Airlines (TWA). His Mid Century Modern images immediately come to mind when one thinks of the Jet set life of the 1960s. What I find amazing is that there doesn't seem to be a collection of his work in book form. Hopefully with Pan Am hitting the airwaves next month, there might be some interest in putting a collection together.... it's long overdue. Here is a sampling of work for North American locations, soon to be followed abroad....
