I grew up going to see the Wanamaker's light show every Christmas. And we always went down Santa Lane to see Santa. Plus we shopped without our parents in Santa's Workshop. It was an amazing part of Christmas for me each year. I miss that.
Pleasure to have started working at Wanamakers. The best department store especially at Christmas. He was such a pioneer of retail. The Christmas Show in grand court would set off the Christmas season 💜
Absolutely Magnificent ! Unbelievable !
ReplyDeleteWhen did they lose the fountains?
ReplyDeleteThe Fountains were lost in 2000. Water and Electricity don't mix unfortunately. I would like them back too.
ReplyDeleteMy kids would love the Monorail!! They should bring that back.
ReplyDeleteThe Monorail is on display now at the PHL Children's "Please Touch" Museum in Philadelphia's Fairmount park section ....

ReplyDeleteI well remember when TV-10 News Anchor, John Facenda narrated the "Show" - and I played golf with him at the Country Club.
